At SSFBC, we pursue the Glory of God through worship, ministry, giving, and education. We strive to connect with Jesus Christ and to each other, in order to magnify His name.

At the heart of everything we do is the understanding that we must love God with all our hearts, with all our souls, and with all our minds, and treat our neighbors as we wish to be treated.

Deacon Ministry

Deacon George Miller - Chairman

The term Deacon comes from the Greek word diakonos meaning “servant”. They are appointed by the Pastor and assist by serving the Pastor and other members of the church. They assist in the serving of the Holy sacraments, assist in Baptism, collect tithes and offerings and assist the Pastor in whatever compacity she deems.

Deaconess & Mothers

Deaconess Carolyn Jones - President

Deaconesses are appointed by the Pastor and assist in preparing for Holy Communion and Baptism as we take
responsibility for purchasing, cleaning, and maintaining used for these ordinances of the church. We often
accompany the Pastor, Deacons, or Clergy members on visits to church members.

Trustee

Bro. Clarence Major - President

The purpose of the Trustee Ministry, a board comprised of appointed members, is to help the church make wise
decisions by taking votes on most financial matters. Trustees may also be responsible for other aspects of the
church’s property, such as repairs and renovations.

Missionary

Deaconess Rose Hunter - President

The purpose of the Missionary Ministry is to share the love of Christ with others through visitations, phone
calls, letters, cards, etc. It is our goal that others will feel the love of Christ through our contact with them.
We assist the Pastor by informing her of the needs of the church members and those in the community.

Pastor’s Ministry

Sis. Alice Major - President

The purpose of the Pastor’s Ministry is to provide support and resources. This includes praying and caring for her well-being spiritually and personally.

Usher

Sis. Angela Norris - President

The purpose of the Usher Ministry is to SERVE. The cornerstone of ushering is COMMITMENT. It is our
goal to exemplify Christ and our church through our service. Our duties are simple but important and include
welcoming the members of the congregation, assisting in seating, assisting in the collection of the tithes and
offerings, helping in emergency situations involving safety, and assisting in the service upon request. The
ushers also distribute bulletins and clean up the church pews at the end of each service.

Youth & Young Adult Ministry

Sis. Tiffany Flowers - President

The youth and young adult ministry serve ages from 1-30. This ministry seeks to encourage and equip young
adults to grow and strengthen their relationship with God as well as help create and grow connections of young
adults to the body of Christ. We serve as a resource for young people to deepen their faith through practice by
focusing on fellowship, community outreach, spiritual growth, and personal/professional development.

Dance Ministry

The purpose of the Dance Ministry is to demonstrate the majesty, power, splendor, and wonder of the Scriptures
through movement. Through this, we encourage the believer in his/her relationship with the Lord and draw the
unbeliever to Him.

Men's Ministry

The purpose of the Men’s ministry is to fellowship and unite the men of the church to serve as positive role
models in the community. We are building a stronger relationship with God and with each other through God’s
Word and support the growth and personal development of every man as we strive to make disciples to win the
world for Christ through unity and brotherly love.

Women's Ministry

The women's ministry is committed to inspiring each other in the faith through fellowship. We are building a
better relationship and connection with God through His Word and supporting the spiritual growth and personal
development of every woman we meet through prayer as we strive to make disciples to win the world for Christ
through unity and sisterly love.

Music & Sound

The music ministry is made up of willing members who desire to sing and/or play an instrument for the purpose
of providing an atmosphere through the singing of songs for all worship services of the church.

Video & Media

The video/media ministry documents all worship services and special programs through video reproduction for
archiving and distribution.

Decorating Ministry

Sis. Cassandra Brown - President

The decorating ministry is responsible for decorating the church and its other facilities for the seasons and
other special occasions to create a warm and welcoming church atmosphere.

Security Ministry

Bro. Dwayne Day - President

The security ministry is dedicated to ensuring a safe and secure environment for the pastor as well as all
worship services, ministry programs, activities, and events held at or by Shining Star Freewill Baptist Church.
This ministry’s mission is to develop security measures, evacuation policies, procedures, and training for all
SSFBC facilities. The ministry trains staff, church members, ministry leaders, volunteers, and guests on how to implement these policies during an emergency.

The Care Ministry connects with the community by meeting the needs of others including, individuals in the hospital and other community outreach initiatives.

Culinary/Kitchen

The purpose of the culinary/kitchen ministry is to provide food services to the Church body and guests. It is the aim of the ministry to abide by safe-serve food regulations and maintain an
an atmosphere of Christian hospitality for church functions and served in a Christian hospitable environment.

Nurse

The Nurse Ministry helps promote wellness in the church body. We assist the members as necessary and are present at every worship service as well as funerals.
